Jaras Hua Hin

Hua Hin, Thailand

“Grandmother’s cooking- royally prepared with love”

Thai families, across generations, have long gathered around the dinner table for a quality family time. Every Thai adult when reminiscing about their childhood inevitably talks about the many family meals centered around Grandma’s cooking. Than Pu Ying Prapai Siwakoses, who was the ‘Ton Krueng’, or the Royal Head Chef, to H.M. King Rama 9 for the most part of the 20th Century, was the original land owner upon which the InterContinental Hua Hin Resort sits upon. The land was bestowed upon her family for their long standing service to the Royal family. She often came to Hua Hin as part of the royal entourage - sometimes with her family, who would also gather around the dinner table for a lavishly cooked yet homey meal by her in their colonial beach house, which has been restored and renovated into La Residence, the presidential suite of the hotel today. A grandmother herself, her passion for cooking translated into quality family time.

Jaras Hua Hin takes inspiration from her passion for cooking and pays homage to the long standing Thai tradition of a quality family meal - especially one that is cooked by a grandmother! Hence, it is named after Khun Jaraspim Liptapanlop, the grandmother of the Liptapanlop family and the owner of the InterContinental Hua Hin Resort, who is incidentally also known for her cooking - especially her famous “Hor-Mok”. All the menu emphasizes on fresh-caught seafood supplied by surrounding fisherman villages, tastes and textures of local cuisine, traditionally prepared with the freshest local ingredients and organic vegetables from Palisa’s farm.
